Painting Notes:
This beautiful spot in Cahuita, Costa Rica was across the street from where I was staying. I enjoyed painting here six mornings - it was a luxury to have so much time on-site. I walked the black sand beach on several occasions collecting sand dollars.

Painting Notes:
I love painting on balconies and when they are a large covered terrace supplied with lounge chairs even better. This is an amazing view of the Cahuita National Park, once you've walked through the entrance building you are on the beautiful coastal trail with monkeys overhead and lots of wildlife. Painting Notes:
I loved the juxtaposition of this pink Haynes Library amidst the greenery and flowers next to the ocean and how the walkway curved to the entry – creating a must-paint composition. The Haynes Library was built in 1897 in Eleuthera and with all its windows providing light and fresh air, it is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. The roosters running around freely added to the scene.

Painting Notes:
What a beautiful place to paint!! I so enjoyed painting in the Glacier National Park Plein Air event. This waterfall was a short hike and over a bridge and simply a magical spot to paint.

Painting Notes:
I stayed at Cinnamon Bay Beach Campground for three days while working on this painting. Look close and you’ll see a figure wearing a cowboy hat, reading on the beach. I’ve painted here a couple of times before… one of the most beautiful beaches anywhere… a long long stretch of sand with a wonderful snorkeling spot at the far end. Painting in the morning… Sunning and picnic mid-day… Snorkeling in the afternoon. Someone has to do it… Love St. John!

Painting Notes:
I stayed on the left bank a couple of blocks from Rue Saint-Andre. This boulevard is well-known for its many shops and restaurants. And there is a great creperie just up the street. I love painting in the Luxembourg Gardens. After exploring I found this beautiful setting in the far corner of the park. People are friendly to painters and I enjoyed the passers by who would stop and visit.

Painting Notes:
It was lovely to paint in one of Savannah's 22 square parks with their resplendent trees heavy with Spanish moss. The Mercer house has a fascinating history. It was featured in a book titled "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" that inspired a movie of the same name. I could listen in on the tour buses talking about the house while I painted. Painting Notes:
In Haena, Kauai, the waves were crashing on Tunnel Beach. The red flags were waving letting swimmers know it was to dangerous to enter the water. Such an incredibly beautiful place to paint, the sounds of the waves…Heaven.

Painting Notes:
This view of the beach was right outside my hotel. I highly recommend staying at Posada Mawimbi in Holbox, Mexico, a small hotel on a beautiful beach. I liked the high contrast of colors in this view, the strong blue sky against the yellow sand with colorful shadows.

Loose Park is one of the crown jewels of Kansas City… with its walking trails, towering trees, this beautiful lake, and the rose garden. It’s such a joy to paint here and I paint here often.

I’ve stayed at the lovely Fusion Garden hotel in Playa del Carmen a few times… so sorry to hear that it has closed. I love the way you could see the horizon of the ocean across the painting and through the interior of the hotel.

This painting was one that came together easily. The view from the Maho Bay Overlook that morning was stunning. The large clouds created such a presence on a bright sunny day. And the two sailboats in the foreground just set the scene. It was such a beautiful setting in which to paint.

Painting Notes:
So, I painted this painting of spruce trees in Loose Park on three different sunny summer days with three different great nieces painting their own paintings beside me… so much fun! These great spruce trees always remind me of Wilbur Niewald -one of Kansas City’s finest artists who has painted these trees many times from many viewpoints over the years. At 95 years old, I saw him in Loose Park painting the spruce trees - so inspiring!

This is my second time painting in Weston Bend State Park at the overlook. It’s such a beautiful place to paint the changing fall colors. And I love to visit the nearby small town of Weston, Mo.

I enjoyed my visit to Fort de Soto… the campground and park are gorgeous. Palm trees, a wandering heron, and a little yellow building at the end of the long bay pier made for a fun painting composition. It was a bright sunny day, a perfect day for painting. Painting Notes:
This was painted on my favorite beach – I’ve painted here a number of times – Trunk Bay on St. John – the sand is whiter and finer, the sea is clear brilliant blues and greens. I painted a few mornings on-site, followed by a picnic lunch and snorkeling. You can see the remnants of a fort on the hill in the distance – it’s called Peace Hill and there is a nice hike up to the fort and down to a beautiful beach behind it.

Painting Notes:
I was staying at a neighboring village in Cinque Terre when I painted this painting in Monterosso. I would take the train every morning with all my paint supplies and hike to this spot. I loved the pastel colors of the buildings, the rich greens of the hillside above, and the violet-hued pebbled beach.

Painting Notes:
To reach the picturesque beach of Little Lameshur Bay, you must travel over some pretty rough dirt roads. But it's worth it. Once you arrive, you are likely the only visitor and the entire beach is yours. That's my friend Tom enjoying the day under the large tree. In the distance, there were the ruins of a home I rebuilt for the painting.

I’ve painted this plaza corner from a few different perspectives. I love the architecture of the plaza and I love this fountain. The statue of Pomona, the roman goddess of fruitful abundance and plenty, was designed in 1913 by Karl Bitter.

There is so much beauty to paint in New Orleans, it’s hard to choose. Amidst lush flowers and towering trees, I chose this sculpture by Isidore Konti in Audubon Park as my inspiration.

I love to hike in Torrey Pines State Park walking along the coastal bluffs with the ocean views, amidst the occasional Torrey Pine which is one of the rarest of pine trees. I stopped along one of the hikes and painted this painting while trying to stay out of the way of other hikers.
